The Alpha Omega Chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. was organized by Soror Johnnie Y. Rice and chartered on February 24, 1945, at Tillotson College. Several current members of Alpha Kappa Sigma Chapter were inducted into the sorority through Alpha Omega Chapter, including Sorors Mary Ashford (Life Member), Nehoma Brown (Cultured Pearl Member), Leah Nolan, Karolyn Thompson (Ruby Member), Anna Edem Etuk, Chante Kuhl, and Tina Williams. The chapter maintains a Sigma Gamma Rho plot prominently placed on the patio of the student union building on Huston-Tillotson University’s campus.
Current members are active on campus by assisting with the Dr. Martin L. King Breakfast, distributing water to new students at orientation, and assisting with student recruitment activities.

The Mu Upsilon Chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. was organized by Dr. Wanda L. Nelson and chartered on April 3, 1992. Two charter members have served in the national and regional leadership levels:
Current members remain visible on campus with activities, including hosting a weekly fitness session, open to all students, in a University of Texas campus gym. In addition, the members participate in an off campus, monthly elementary school girls mentoring program with the sponsoring chapter.
